Students in Lalbandi build EV tractor
Barhathawa (Sarlahi), Dec 8: Three students of Grades 11 and 12 have built an electric tractor. Students of Ideal Co-Ed Academy in Bastipur, Lalbandi Municipality-9, have built an electric tractor.
Pallav Kaushik, Nawaraj Basnet, and Ashish Mahato, Grade 12 students of the school, have built a battery-powered tractor with the help of the school, shared Principal Raju Panjiyar. The three-wheeled tractor has a trolley for carrying goods and a rotavator for ploughing the fields.
It also has the facility to dump the trolley’s goods with the help of hydraulics. “It is convenient for small farmers to plough, harrow, and transport crops from the field to the market,” said student Pallav Kaushik. The students displayed the tractor at the two-day district-level science exhibition held last Tuesday and Wednesday in Gadhiya Dumaria, Balara Municipality-4.
The students claim that it can achieve commercial success as it was built using modern technology. The electric tractor was built using motorcycle spare parts, iron pieces of various sizes, and wood at a cost of more than Rs 115,000.
The tractor can run up to 190 kilometres on a single charge and can carry up to 6 quintals of cargo at a time. —RSS
