President suggests to incorporate nature and culture in film production
Kathmandu, Nov 27: President Ramchandra Paudel has suggested that film producers must give priority to the nature and culture of Nepal with the use of modern technology. According to him, film development could be linked to Nepal’s tourism industry.
President Paudel said it during a program organized by the Film Development Board at his Office, Shital Niwas to confer various awards, including the ‘National Film Award, 2080.
“Nepali film has a significant role in the protection and promotion of Nepali language, culture and tradition,” he said, adding that film not only entertains but is also an effective medium to awaken individuals and society.
In the President’s observation, there is a shifting trend in filming at present for the recent producers focus on touching stories rather than heroism and stardom. This new trend has grabbed attention, he added. Original stories attract an audience.
Paudel conferred the ‘National Film Award,2080’ to Bulaki, while various actors including Bipin Karki, Swastima Khadka, Nischal Basnet, Mitra Dev Gurung, Shiva Dhakal, and Raj Bahadur Sane were awarded.
In the category of indigenous cinema ‘Lojima’ was picked. It is in the Limbu language, while commercially successful cinema was ‘Jari’.
President Paudel conferred the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ to actress Chaitya Devi Singh. The award carried a purse of Rs 375 thousand and a certificate. Chaitya Devi performed in the first film of Nepal ‘Aama’.
Bipin Karki was announced as the best actor for this year.
On the occasion, Minister for Communications and Information, Prithvi Subba Gurung, said film is an integral part of prosperous Nepal. “Government is well aware of the importance of film,” he added.
