Minister Bhandari and Israeli Ambassador discuss bilateral ties
November 27, Kathmandu: Israeli Ambassador to Nepal, Shmulik Arie Bass, paid a courtesy call to Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security, Sharat Singh Bhandari.
During the meeting held at the Minister’s office in Singha Durbar on Wednesday, the duo expressed optimism about the implementation of the bilateral labour agreement between the two nations. A particular focus was placed on expediting the process of sending Nepali workers selected as caregivers to Israel and solidifying Nepal’s position as a key source country for labour.
The discussion extended beyond the caregiving sector, exploring potential opportunities in agriculture, construction, and other fields.
The Minister and the Ambassador emphasized the importance of transferring agricultural technology, providing comprehensive skill development and language training, ensuring rigorous health screenings, and guaranteeing the protection of Nepali workers’ rights and security in Israel.
Ambassador Bass emphasized the outstanding performance of Nepali workers in the caregiving sector and assured that, following the recent ceasefire in Israel, a gradual process of sending selected Nepali workers would commence. He also expressed interest in exploring avenues for Nepali workers to contribute to sectors like agriculture and construction.
Minister Bhandari reaffirmed the government’s commitment to facilitating the timely departure of Nepali workers selected for Israel. He pledged to coordinate closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to streamline the departure of Nepali workers to Israel.
