Chandragiri Municipality awarded the ‘CWIN-Nepal National Child Rights Honour’
Kathmandu: The Chandragiri municipality has been awarded this year’s ‘ CWIN-Nepal National Child Rights Honour’.
The honour was conferred on the municipality in recognition of its significant deliveries in the protection and promotion of child rights amidst a programme on Wednesday organised on the occasion of the 37th anniversary of the CWIN-Nepal (Child Workers in Nepal Concerned Centre (CWIN-Nepal).
The local government has established and implemented the ‘Child Fund’ aiming to provide emergency support to vulnerable children. Eight, out of 15 wards in Chandragiri have been already announced the ‘child labour-free wards’.
Receiving the honour, Deputy Mayor Basanti Shrestha pledged to come up with more efforts to further improve the rights of children in her municipality. Municipality’s administrative officer Hermraj Aryal said they have implemented a child-friendly approach in service delivery.
Commitments and efforts of the municipality in the area of the protection and promotion of child rights are said to be exemplary for other local governments.
