Flood and landslide affected victims demand safe housing as winter sets in

Thousands of affected families still waiting for relief in Kavrepalanchowk

Kavrepalanchow: Many families still lack proper shelter after floods and landslides wreaked havoc in Kavrepalanchowk two months ago.

Victims are demanding safe housing as winter sets in, as local governments have not yet arranged for reconstruction or permanent housing.

In Bethanchok Rural Municipality-3, flood-affected residents submitted a memorandum demanding appropriate shelter.

They also called for permanent landslide control measures and restoration of damaged farmland.

While the floods and landslides caused significant loss of life and property, local authorities have not yet completed damage assessments.

Thousands of affected families are still waiting for relief.

The district’s disaster management committee has urged local bodies to submit full damage reports to enable timely relief and rebuilding efforts.

In the meantime, UNICEF has provided financial aid to flood victims in Namobuddha Municipality.
