Tourism, agriculture, medicinal herbs economic boosters in Karnali
Karnali, Nov 26: Tourism, agriculture, and medicinal herbs have been regarded as economic boosters in the Karnali region.
During a stakeholder discussion in Birendranagar on Monday, International IDEA Nepal mentioned a study report. The report dwelt on economic growth and its potential in Karnali Province. Province program officer of IDEA Nepal, Khagendra Chamling Rai, said the report was prepared based on periodic plans, economic surveys, interaction with key persons, and inspection visits.
“The discussion was held with development partners, active women, industrialists and entrepreneurs, civil employees, civil society members, and politicians so that the problems identified would be resolved collaboratively,” he added.
Similarly, another program officer at IDEA Nepal, Pramod Bhagat, made a presentation on issues like the goal of building organic Karnali for the provincial government, the Golden Triangle route, tourism, sustainable agricultural production in lower Karnali, and infrastructures, among others.
Similarly, project manager Prakash Jha said the government could pay heed to the supply chain. Once the marketing of the products here was ensured, it would help boost citizens’ income.
On the occasion, spokesperson at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Planning, Mahendra Jung Shahi, said the use of forest resources, a reliable road network, and integrated human settlement were imperative for the development of Karnali Province.
Province member of the National Rural Municipalities’ Federation and Chairman of Chaukune rural municipality, Kadga BK, said every profession needs to be identified and given due recognition to establish economic links.
The issues of documentation, infrastructure development, grading of indigenous crops, packaging, marketing of agro products, microenterprises, and investment in agriculture, medicinal herbs, and tourism featured significantly during the event. —RSS
