Countries in ‘Global South’ should be united: Senior Vice Chair Pokharel

Kathmandu: Senior Vice Chairperson of the CPN (UML), Ishwar Pokharel, has said the countries in the ‘Global South’ should be united and involved in collective welfare and human service.

Vice Chairperson Pokharel said it while addressing the session on ‘Equality and Prosperity through Thorough Study of Human Civilization’ at the ‘Second Global South Think Tanks Dialogue’ held in Nanjing, Zhengsu Province of China. Vice Chairperson Pokharel urged the intellectuals of the ‘Global South’ to study, conduct research and promote the use of natural resources in Nepal for the benefit of overall human development.

‘If the countries of the ‘Global South’ ease investment in the fields of electricity, agriculture, and tourism, the natural resources of Nepal could be utilized for the prosperity of the people of the ‘Global South’,’ he expressed reminding imminent visit of Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to China. PM Oli’s visit would be historic and successful in order to further strengthen the centuries-old relationship between China and Nepal, according to him.
