Chhath puja preparations complete at Birgunj’s Ghadiarwa Pond and over 30 other Chhat ritual sites

City ready to celebrate with enhanced security, decorations, and emergency services for the grand festival

Birgunj: The preparations for Chhath Puja at Ghadiarwa Pond, one of Birgunj’s most renowned locations, along with more than three dozen other ritual sites to celebrate Chhath (Chhath ghats) in the city, have been completed in time for the festival.

The city’s ponds, rivers, and lakes have been beautifully decorated as devotees prepare to offer ‘Argha’ to the setting sun, this evening.

The Chhath Pooja Management Committee at Ghadiarwa Pond organized a press conference today to announce the completion of the decoration and management work at the Chhath ghats.

Lakhan Lal Sah Kanu, from the Chhath Pooja Management Committee, shared that approximately Rs 1.5 million has been spent on the decoration and management of the Chhath ritual sites this year.

Munna Sah Kanu, the coordinator of the subcommittee, announced that, to ensure the safety and convenience of the devotees, a total of 250 security personnel have been deployed across key locations.

Additionally, over 20 CCTV cameras have been strategically installed at various Chhath Ghat sites to enhance surveillance and monitor the events.

He further added that emergency services, including fire trucks and ambulances, are on standby throughout the duration of the festival, ensuring prompt response in case of any emergencies.

Additionally, the Chhath ghats at other prominent locations in Birgunj, including Murli, Nagawa, Ranighat, Radhemai, Chapakiya and Maidiya Ponds, have also been magnificently decorated for the occasion.
