Satirist Gamnage receives this year’s Bhairav Puraskar

Kathmandu: This year’s Bhairav Puraskar has been presented to satirist Laxmi Prasad Bhattarai (Laxman Gamnage).

The award was conferred on Gamnage at a programme organized by Bhairav Puraskar Guthi at Jorpati, Kathmandu on Saturday. The award carries a purse of 111,111 rupees.

Similarly, Chudamani Gautam, a campaigner for the purification of Nepali language and literature, received Bhairav Bangmaya Puraskar. The award also carries a purse of 111,111 rupees.

Likewise, Bhairav Pratibha Puraskar bagging a cash prize of 51,111 rupees was presented to an artist Laxmi Giri.

On the occasion, Prof Dr. Ram Prasad Gyawali, litterateurs – Gyan Nistha Gyawali and Manaka Pokharel shed light on the contributions of the award-receiving persons. Former Minister of Bagmati Province, Rameshwor Phunyal said litterateurs should reflect the reality of the society like a mirror.

Meanwhile, senior journalist Bijay Chalise shared that the contributions of Bhairav Aryal were significant in satirical literature.
