122 patients received free cataract surgery in Jumla eye camp

Jumla, April 22: A total of 122 patients received free cataract surgery services in a two-day free eye camp held in Jumla district.

The camp was organized by Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh, Jumla, with technical support from the Himalaya Eye Hospital, Pokhara. According to the organizers, the service targeted people who could not afford treatment due to economic hardship and geographical remoteness.

Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh Jumla President Jagadish Chaulagain said that altogether 546 people received various eye care services during the camp. He added that the program focused on reaching people in remote areas who have limited access to specialized health services.

Earlier, separate free eye camps were conducted in all eight local levels of the district. Through these camps, nearly 1,100 people received specialist eye care services provided by senior ophthalmologist Dr. Hari Bikram Adhikari and his medical team from Himalaya Eye Hospital, Pokhara.

Eye Worker Supervisor at Chandannath Eye Hospital, Dal Bahadur Mahatara, said that the program significantly benefited needy patients in the district by providing timely diagnosis and treatment, especially for cataract-related problems.
