Nepal Army, U.S. Pacific Air Forces conclude disaster response exercise

September 21, Kathmandu: The Pacific Angel 24-2 Exercise, a joint initiative between the Nepal Army and U.S. Pacific Air Forces, concluded on Friday in Kathmandu.

The exercise, which started on September 15, focused on strengthening disaster response capabilities through military and civilian cooperation.

This year’s exercise included knowledge exchanges on making search and rescue operations more effective during various types of disasters. Activities took place across Kathmandu, Makawanpur, and Dhading districts.

Experts shared insights on existing methods and procedures, aiming to improve coordination during disaster management efforts.

The exercise, which began in 2012, marks its fourth edition. Over the years, these exercises have served as a platform for exchanging expertise in disaster management and humanitarian assistance, helping to build the professional capabilities of both militaries.

The collaboration has facilitated the enhancement of skills in aircraft maintenance, personnel recovery, flood and swift water rescue, patient movement, and medical responses to hazardous materials.
