Dahal Yagya Nidhi Awards distributed
Kathmandu, Aug 9: Two outstanding students and a litterateur have been honoured with the ‘Dahal Yagyanidhi Bal Prativa Puraskar’ and ‘Dahal Yagya Nidhi Samman’ respectively.
They were feted amid a programme organized by the Dahal Yagyanidhi Sudha Sadan on the 6th memorial day of the late litterateur and radio programme presenter Dahal Yagya Nidhi on Friday.
Chancellor of Nepal Academy, Bhupal Rai, honoured Dinesh Karki and Aasna Pandey with ‘Dahal Yagyanidhi Bal Prativa Puraskar’ for securing highest marks in Nepali subject in Grade 8 annual exam from the Kathmandu Durbar High School.
They received Rs 10,000 each as cash prize.
Similarly, Chancellor Rai presented posthumous honour to littérateur Gyanmani Nepal with Rs 150,000 cash prize and a copper plaque in recognition of his contribution to the Nepali history and literature.
Santosh Nepal received the honour on the behalf of his late father.
It may be noted that littérateur and radio programme presenter Dahal had taught in the Dubar High School for long and hosted a popular literary programme ‘Sahitya Sansar’ from Radio Nepal.
Known for his unique style of programme presentation, arresting listeners’ attention with the use of typical Nepali word for salutation -‘Jadau’-, the late Dahal is credited to the enhancement of country’s cultural transformation.
Dahal died on August 10, 2018 at the age of 65. He was a kidney patient.
