EU Awards Full Erasmus+ Scholarships to 33 Nepali Students for 2024/25

August 7, Kathmandu: The European Union Delegation to Nepal and the Erasmus Mundus Association Nepal, on Wednesday, organized a Pre-Departure Orientation (PDO) for the 33 new recipients.

The EU has awarded full scholarships to 33 Nepali students (19 men and 14 women) for two-year Erasmus+ Master’s programs starting in the 2024/25 academic year.

Over 500 Nepali students have received Master’s scholarships, and 300 others have benefitted from international credit mobility under the Erasmus program.

Globally, 2,603 students from 137 countries have been awarded scholarships for Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s degrees this year. These programs are delivered by multiple European universities, allowing students to study in various European countries. Scholarships cover tuition, travel, and a monthly allowance.

The main subjects of study include Plant Breeding, Decentralized Smart Energy System, Smart Cities & Communities, Fire Safety Engineering, Agriculture, Environment and Society, Geo-Information, Waves Acoustics Vibrations Engineering, and Transition, Innovation, and Sustainability Environments.

EU Ambassador to Nepal, Veronique Lorenzo, emphasized the scholarships’ role in strengthening EU-Nepal educational ties.

The program also allows Europeans to study and teach in Nepal.

The Erasmus+ program’s budget for 2021-2027 is 26.2 billion euros, significantly increased from the previous cycle. The EU’s ongoing support for Nepal’s education sector includes a 53 million Euro contribution to the ‘Quality Education for All’ initiative.
