Former Minister Govinda Raj Joshi convicted of corruption

Kathmandu: The Supreme Court has convicted former Minister Govinda Raj Joshi guilty in a corruption case.

The Supreme Court Assistant Spokesperson Govinda Prasad Ghimire said the joint bench of Chief Justice Binod Sharma and Balkrishna Dhakal found Minister Joshi guilty in the corruption case.

The bench sentenced Minister Joshi to 9 months in prison and charged him with a fine of 6.9 million rupees. Earlier, the Special Court sentenced one and half years of imprisonment and 21.6 million rupees against him. Former Minister Joshi had filed a writ against the verdict of the Special Court in the
Supreme Court in 2012.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court gave a clean chit to Tara Raj Pandey and Basudev Panta in the corruption case.
