Patan High Court acquits Sandeep Lamichhane in rape case

Kathmandu: The Patan High Court has acquitted Cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane in a rape case.

The joint bench of Judges Sudarshan Dev Bhatta and Anju Upreti overturned the verdict of the Kathmandu District Court on Wednesday.

The District Court sentenced eight years of imprisonment to Lamichhane in an alleged case of rape.

After the verdict, Lamichhane appealed in the Patan High Court. The case had faced five postponements.

Meanwhile, the Cricket Association of Nepal has revoked its decision to suspend cricketer Lamichhane with the latest verdict of the high court. Issuing a press release this evening, CAN lifted the suspension allowing Lamichhane to play domestic and international cricket.
