On Air Station:

Forest fires wreaking havoc across the country, killing humans and animals alike

May 2, Kathmandu: Forest fires have been worsening across the country recently, with 165 incidents reported in 39 districts

The meteorological department predicts no significant rainfall in the near future to provide assistance to douse the fire.

Two deaths have been reported in the Lalitpur district recently due to forest fires.

Meteorologists expect some rain, but not sufficient to extinguish the fires. The lack of rain and drought conditions have made it difficult to control the fires. Most fires typically happen from late March to late May.

Forest management is essential to prevent fires. Human activities such as smoking and intentional fires are contributing factors. Though the Forest Act enforces penalties for fire-related activities, it hasn’t stopped people from committing such crimes.
