Regal sent to Nepalgunj jail
Nepalgunj: Yograj Dhakal, known as the Regal of Nepalgunj, has been sent to Nepalgunj Jail. Regal, who was arrested yesterday from Nepalgunj, was taken to the custody of the District Police Office Banke.
According to District Police Spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police Narayan Dangi, Regal was sent to Nepalgunj jail immediately after he was handed over at around 10:30 this morning.
Shrestedar Sarojnidhi Wagle of Banke District Court informed that Regal was sent to Nepalgunj Jail office at 11:00 this morning.
Regal’s imprisonment was overturned by the Supreme Court yesterday. A bench of Permanent Chief Justice Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada, Sapna Pradhan Malla and Kumar Chudal ordered the cancellation of Regal’s imprisonment. Right after the court order, Regal was arrested by the police from Nepalgunj.
Regal, who was serving a prison sentence for the murder of Chetan Manandhar, a resident of Nepalgunj, was pardoned by the government for the rest of his imprisonment. Dhakal was released on Constitution Day after receiving amnesty for the remainder of his imprisonment.
However, Chetan Manandhar’s wife Bharti Manandhar Sherpa filed a writ in the Supreme Court against that decision.
