Delay Continues in Sandeep Lamichhane’s Minor’s Rape Case Amidst Shortage of Judges

Kathmandu: The scheduled hearing for cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane in the minor rape case did not take place today as the case remains unresolved in the Kathmandu District Court.

On September 7th, Judge Shakuntala Karki’s bench had ordered the submission of additional documents to verify the victim’s date of birth.

Subsequently, the final hearing was slated for September 18th, but it was adjourned without proceeding. Since then, the case has not been brought to trial. The Kathmandu district court cited a shortage of judges as the reason for postponing Sandeep’s case.

Despite the Supreme Court’s directive to prioritize and expedite the rape case against Sandeep, the Kathmandu court has yet to make significant progress in its resolution
