PM Dahal pledges to preserve and promote indigenous people’s language, literature and culture

Kathmandu: The 29th International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples has been observed across the country today by organizing various programmes.

Addressing a program organized to mark the day, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has expressed the government’s committed to the preservation, promotion and development of all the languages, literature, culture, sociology and philosophy concerning the indigenous communities in Nepal.

The Prime Minister expressed his belief that the indigenous day would help organize the movement for rights to the indigenous people by protecting and strengthening their acquired rights.

Presenting the statistics that there are about 12 million indigenous communities in Nepal, the Prime Minister informed that 60 indigenous communities have been listed so far and they have their own language and culture.

Presenting the fact that indigenous peoples have been playing a decisive role in Nepal’s historical development, civilization development, labor culture and overall nation building, the Prime Minister said that it is necessary for all of us to assimilate this reality.
