Laxmi Puja and Kukur Tihar today !

October 24, Kathmandu: The second and third day of the five-day Tihar festival, Kukur Tihar and Laxmi puja are being celebrated across the country on Monday.

Dogs, as man’s best friend, are worshipped in Kukur Tihar.

Also on Monday, the most important day of the Tihar festival Laxmi Puja is being celebrated by worshipping the goddess of wealth and prosperity Laxmi.

People light oil lamps and clean their houses to welcome goddess Laxmi.

People, especially girls, also play Bhailo on the occasion of Laxmi Puja. Bhailo is a cultural practice of going to people’s houses, singing songs, and getting money or some other gifts in return.

Tihar is the second biggest festival of Nepali Hindus.
