Minister Chaudhary, GGGI representative meet

Kathmandu: National Representative of Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) for Nepal and Pakistan, Laura Jalasjoki, paid a courtesy call on Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment, Gita Chaudhary, on Wednesday.

In the meeting held at the Ministry, they exchanged views on green development, climate finance, green hydrogen and climate resilient agriculture.

GGGI, an international and intergovernmental entity has so far reached out to 55 nations, aiming to build climate-resilient and prosperous world through inclusive and sustainable economic development. Nepal has been a GGGI member since 2022.

During the meeting, Minister Chaudhary said that green hydrogen and production of chemical fertilizer within country are key priorities for Nepal, echoing the need to advance the development of green hydrogen in conjunction with fertilizer production.

She added that the recent floods in Bhotekoshi-Trishuli river systems damaged arable land and infrastructure sector, increasing challenges for food security and livelihood of farmers.
