Harijan began his hunger strike on the premises of Medical Education Commission, saying the concerned authorities continue to ignore calls for the implementation of the agreement.

Earlier, Harijan had staged a similar hunger strike beginning August 4 at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu. Following the protest, the government had signed a five-point agreement with him on August 7.

The proper recognition and fair valuation of the labour of intern doctors remain Harijan’s primary demands. He said his protest is not personal, but is aimed at promoting dignity and securing future of many medical intern workforce.
