Six people killed and three other missing in landslides in Baglung and Palpa

Balglung: Six people have died and three others are missing after landslides in Baglung and Palpa today.

In Baglung, four members of the same family were buried when a landslide buried their house in Nisikhola Rural Municipality-3.

According to District Police Chief Phanindra Prasain, Shyam Kumari BK and her three sons, Manoj, Mukesh and Nisan, were buried in the incident.

Police have so far recovered three bodies, while efforts are underway to recover the remaining body.

Meanwhile, two people died and three others went missing in separate landslides in Palpa.

The District Police Office confirmed the deaths of 75-year-old Sher Bahadur Chidi of Rupse Rajauli in Mathagadhi Rural Municipality-2 and 59-year-old Krishna Kumari Saru of Thimure Dhustung in Ribdikot Rural Municipality-6.

Their bodies have been recovered and taken to Palpa District Hospital for post-mortem.

In another incident, a landslide at Kaseni Bhaisekatta in Mathagadhi Rural Municipality-3 buried the house of Lil Bahadur Gharti Magar.

Two members of Gharti Magar’s family and his neighbour’s daughter are missing.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Bhimlal Bhattarai said police have launched a search for the missing.
