Education Minister Pokharel consults with Gen Z movement’s martyr families and injured

Kathmandu: Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel has consulted with representatives of leading organizations of martyr families and injured Gen-Z movement on the issues, including implementation of the scholarship programme.

Minister Pokharel held talks with a joint team comprising representatives from Injured Gen Z Nepal, Gen Z Martyr Families Welfare Society, and Gen Z Coordination Struggle Committee.

During the discussion, Minister Pokharel stated that schools will be facilitated to effectively implement the scholarship programme. He shared that the ministry is preparing necessary criteria for scholarship implementation and will coordinate and collaborate with organizations like PABSON, N-PABSON, and HISAN.

Minister Pokharel expressed confidence that 10 percent scholarship available in private schools would be effectively implemented. Badal Rai, coordinator of Injured Gen Z Nepal, said the ministry should provide necessary facilitation to make it easier for children of martyr and injured families to study and to ensure the scholarship program is effectively implemented in private schools.

On the occasion, Gen Z activists had suggested including topics related to promoting local products in the school curriculum. They emphasized that strong coordination between the federal, provincial, and local levels is necessary for improving the education sector.

Earlier, the Ministry approved the ‘Guidelines for Providing Free Education to Families of GEN Z Movement Martyrs and the Injured, 2083,’ to provide free education up to the Bachelor’s level for the families of martyrs of the Gen Z movement and those with serious or critical injuries.
