Integrated report of UML reorganization taskforce being prepared

Kathmandu: Efforts are underway to bring an integrated report among leaders of a taskforce formed for the CPN-UML strengthening, transformation and reorganization.

The report is going to be integrated based on discussion with office-bearers of the taskforce held at Balthali of Kavrepalanchowk on September 13.

CPN (UML) Secretary Mahesh Basnet shared that an understanding has been reached to present the integrated report based on a consensus forged in the meeting of the taskforce held at party headquarters, Chyasal, in the Secretariat meeting.

Issues including not criticizing party Chairperson KP Sharma Oli, not asking his resignation, not calling special general convention based on the agenda of reorganization and calling national representatives council to hold discussion of performance of the incumbent government should be added in the report, he argued.

Similarly, discussion was also held that holding discussion about amendment to term of leadership, age limit in regular statute general convention, and keeping the province-level suggestions received to taskforce as the main part of the report.

Similarly, another UML’s Secretary Padma Aryal mentioned that a common report would be presented in secretariat meeting by holding open discussion regarding changing mindset and situation within the party as well as the goal of keeping the party united.

She clarified that the issue of reorganization of the leadership within the party would not be incorporated in the report. The meeting held in Balthali had assigned vice-chair and taskforce coordinator Ram Bahadur Thapa, vice-chair Bishnu Prasad Poudel and general-secretary Shankar Pokhrel to bring an integrated report.

Dispute had surfaced after party vice-chair and taskforce coordinator Thapa prepared a different report from the previous one prepared by general-secretary Pokharel.

The eighth meeting of party secretariat held on May 24 had formed 15-member taskforce under coordination of vice-chair Thapa.

The third full meeting of the UML central committee has been scheduled for September 21-23.
