US Chargé d’Affaires Boldin meets PM Shah, pledges support for post-flood efforts

Kathmandu, Sept. 16: US Chargé d’Affaires to Nepal Megan Boldin paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Balendra Shah on Wednesday, discussing climate-related disasters, tourism, investment and US support for Nepal’s post-flood recovery.

During the meeting at the Office of the Prime Minister in Singha Durbar, Prime Minister Shah stressed the need for stronger international cooperation and collective efforts to reduce climate-induced disasters and address their impacts, according to his Press and Research Expert Dipa Dahal.

Shah also highlighted Nepal’s tourism potential and opportunities for mutual benefit through the development of the sector. He urged the US government to encourage greater American investment in Nepal.

The Prime Minister thanked the United States for its support to Nepal following the devastating Bhotekoshi floods. He also expressed solidarity with foreign nationals affected by the disaster and extended condolences over the loss of lives and property.

Chargé d’Affaires Boldin expressed condolences over the losses caused by the floods and conveyed the US government’s solidarity with the Government of Nepal and the Nepali people during the difficult period.

She said the US government was ready to support Nepal’s relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts.
