‘Digital Parliament’ to be put to test from Wednesday

Kathmandu, Sept 15: The testing of the ‘Digital Parliament’ system, aimed at gradually transforming the functioning of the House of Representatives (HoR) and its secretariat into a digital system, will begin from Wednesday.

The Secretariat appraised the members of the Business Advisory Committee under the HoR on the progress made so far and future plans for the digital parliament initiative at a meeting held today chaired by HoR Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal.

According to the Speaker Aryal’s Secretariat, the testing is being initiated as part of efforts to gradually digitize the proceedings and administrative functions of the Lower House and its Secretariat, making parliamentary work more efficient and technology-driven.

During the meeting, members of the Committee had furnished various suggestions and recommendations so as to make the implementation of the ‘Digital Parliament’ more effective.

The meeting also discussed ways and means to incorporate the suggestions received from Committee members, the Secretariat shared.

Deliberation on strengthening the implementation process of the ‘Digital Parliament’ was also held with the aim of making parliamentary proceedings more accessible, efficient and digitally enabled.
