Shared resolve needed to address climate challenges: Minister Chaudhary

Mustang, Sept 15: Minister for Agriculture, Forests, and Environment, Geeta Chaudhary, has stated that all three tiers of government must make a shared commitment to address climate-related challenges.

Addressing the ‘Gharpajhong Climate Change Conference 2083,’ held at Jomsom in Gharpajhong Rural Municipality-4, Mustang today, Minister Chaudhary noted that floods and landslides exacerbated by the risk of glacial lake outbursts caused by melting snow are severely impacting living beings.

Minister Chaudhary warned that climate change-induced floods, landslides, riverbank erosion, droughts, and wildfires are directly affecting agriculture and livestock farming, thereby threatening food security. She further highlighted that rising temperatures have heightened risks in the Himalayan region.
