EU provides 67 tonnes of disaster relief supplies to Nepal

KATHMANDU, Sept. 10: European Union representatives on Thursday handed over 67 tonnes of emergency disaster relief supplies to Nepal following official requests from the Nepalese government.

The shipment, delivered under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, includes 61 tonnes of essential materials provided by Germany and six tonnes provided by Luxembourg.

EU Ambassador-Designate Charles Whiteley and Benjamin Seidel, Chargé d’Affaires of the German Embassy, formally transferred the relief items in Kathmandu to Innovation Minister Mahabir Pun.

According to the Delegation of the European Union to Nepal, additional aid flights carrying disaster relief supplies are expected to arrive in the country shortly.
