Israeli ambassador calls on Pokhara Mayor Acharya

Gandaki: Israeli ambassador to Nepal, Shmulik Arie Bass, paid a courtesy call on the Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City (PMC), Dhanraj Acharya, on Wednesday.

Issues such as Nepal-Israel relations, common interests, tourism, agriculture, technical education and employment promotion featured during the meeting, according to PMC.

The two dignitaries also discussed the possibility of conducting a direct flight between Pokhara and Israel in addition to the expansion of tourism and cultural exchanges between Nepal and Israel.

Mayor Acharya requested Ambassador Bass for his coordination to create new jobs for Nepali youths and technical capacity building of PMC employees. There is potential for cooperation between the two countries on modern agricultural technology, skills development, employment and technical knowledge transfer.

Collaboration was needed to work together with Israel in the sectors of tourism, culture and aviation.

In response, Ambassador Bass informed that Nepali youths were making remarkable progress by achieving knowledge, skills and expertise they gain through the ‘learn and earn’ programme under the modern agriculture system launched by the Israeli government.

Nepal could reap benefits from Israeli technology and the modern agricultural system.
