Former Secretary Thapa appointed Chairperson of TU Service Commission
Kathmandu: Former Secretary to the Government of Nepal and senior urban planner Kishor Thapa has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Tribhuvan University (TU) Service Commission.

Prime Minister and TU Chancellor Balendra Shah appointed Thapa as the Chairperson of the Service Commission. Similarly, Prof Dr Rejina Maskey has been appointed as a member of the Service Commission.
The Chairperson Recommendation Committee, formed under the leadership of TU Pro-Chancellor Sasmit Pokharel, who is also the Minister of Education and Sports, had recommended the names of three individuals from among those who had applied for the post.
Known as an architect and urban planner, Thapa has served in the civil service of the Government of Nepal for more than four decades in various capacities. He served as a secretary in the Ministry of Urban Development, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, and the Secretariat of the Water and Energy Commission, among other agencies.
Thapa also worked as an expert member of the Steering Committee of the National Reconstruction Authority and is currently an urban planner at the Nepal Institute of Urban and Regional Studies and a visiting faculty at Kathmandu University.
