Heavy Rainfall Likely in Several Provinces as Monsoon Remains Active
Kathmandu, July 1: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has predicted heavy rainfall in parts of the country today, with the monsoon remaining active across Nepal.
According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, one or two locations in the hilly districts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces are likely to receive heavy rain.
The department said the monsoon system is currently more active over Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, resulting in widespread cloud cover across the country. Skies are expected to remain generally to fully cloudy throughout the day.
Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is forecast at many places in the hilly regions and at a few locations in the Terai.
At present, scattered rainfall is being recorded in parts of Bagmati, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, while isolated showers are occurring in Koshi Province.
The weather pattern is expected to continue tonight, with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms likely in many hilly areas and isolated rainfall in parts of the Terai. The department has urged the public to remain alert, particularly in areas vulnerable to heavy rainfall and its possible impacts.
