Kathmandu: The Ministry of Health and Population has said that more than 10,000 vials of anti-rabies vaccine are currently available at central, provincial and district-level hospitals across the country.

Joint spokesperson Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari said 10,011 vials are currently in stock. He added that 2,500 additional vials have already been received with support from the World Health Organization, while another 4,500 vials are expected to arrive within the next few days.

According to the ministry, necessary measures have been taken to ensure the uninterrupted availability of rabies prevention and treatment services nationwide. Local authorities have also been requested to facilitate the management of animal bites and vaccination services.

Dr. Adhikari said the stock available at Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital in Teku is sufficient for around 40 days, adding that vaccine supplies are expected to normalize fully once the regular procurement process is completed.
