President Lamichhane, senior leader Shah jointly inaugurate first general convention
Kathmandu: The first general convention of the ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is underway at the Guesthouse Ground of Bharatpur City in Chitwan.

RSP president Rabi Lamichhane and the party’s senior leader and Prime Minister Balendra Shah jointly inaugurated the convention by ringing a bell, which is also the election symbol of the party.
Other guests on the dais also rang the bell simultaneously. President of the Nepali Congress, Gagan Kumar Thapa; CPN-UML leader Pradeep Kumar Gyawali; Nepali Communist Party leader Barshaman Pun; and chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Rajendra Lingden are attending the inaugural session.
Together in the inauguration are former Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai; chairperson of the Janata Samajbadi Party, Upendra Yadav; chairman of the Janmat Party, Chandrakant Raut; and other leaders.
The general convention, to run until June 23, will elect a new leadership for the party.
