Language, literature and culture are our identity and pride: President Paudel

Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel has said that language, literature and culture are the nation’s original identity and source of pride.

Addressing a programme organised in Kathmandu today to mark the 115th birth anniversary of Siddhicharan Shrestha, the President said literature is not only a form of artistic expression but also a powerful medium for promoting awareness, social transformation and democratic values.

He said literature plays an important role in fostering patriotism, social justice and a cultured society, while helping connect people and inspire a better future.

Recalling the contribution of Yugkavi Siddhicharan Shrestha to Nepali language, literature and national consciousness, President Paudel said the younger generation should view him not only as a historic poet but also as a source of inspiration for courage, creativity, patriotism and human values.

The President noted that Siddhicharan’s literary works reflected the aspirations of society and the desire for change, while conveying messages of freedom, justice, humanity and national pride even during difficult political and social circumstances.

He particularly highlighted Shrestha’s renowned work Mero Pyaro Okhaldhunga, describing it as a timeless expression of love for the motherland in Nepali literature.

On the occasion, Dr. Dubasoo Kshetri and Dr. Gargi Sharma were honoured with the Yugkavi Siddhicharan Award.
