Deepening drinking water crisis in Tarai raised in National Assembly
Kathmandu: Lawmakers in the National Assembly have expressed concern over the deepening drinking water crisis in the southern plains of the Tarai region.
Urmila Aryal said increasing dryness has caused an acute shortage of drinking water in Madhes Province, stressing the need for urgent government action.
Goma Devi Timalsena said the budget presented by the Finance Minister on Friday had failed to adequately address industrial operations.
Durga Gurung drew the government’s attention to ongoing electricity supply problems in Karnali Province.
Nar Bahadur Bista said the government should provide proper responses to lawmakers’ queries raised in the House.
Bhuwan Bahadur Sunuwar highlighted protests by Dalit activists, including Dipa Nepali, against caste discrimination, and urged the government to address their demands.
Yubraj Sharma raised concern over rising prices, questioning how long citizens would have to bear the burden and calling for immediate measures to control inflation.
Other lawmakers, including Narayan Datt Mishra and Uday Bahadur Bohara, also expressed their views during the meeting.
