Every information on social media is not true: Communication Minister Dr Timilsina
Nuwakot, April 19: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Dr Bikram Timilsina has said that all information circulated on social media cannot be considered true and must be verified before being accepted.
Speaking with locals at Chhahare Bazaar in Likhu Rural Municipality–6 of Nuwakot on Saturday, Minister Timilsina clarified that reports claiming ministers were being provided new mobile phones were completely false and misleading.
He said such rumours were being spread with the intention of creating distrust against the government.
“The claim about the distribution of new mobile phones to ministers is fake,” he said, adding that citizens should verify facts before sharing any information online.
The Minister stressed the need for accuracy and credibility in news reporting, stating that responsible dissemination of information is essential in the digital age. He also said the government was committed to ensuring that public resources collected through taxes are not misused.
He urged citizens to inform authorities if they notice any misuse of public funds, and reiterated the government’s commitment to zero tolerance on corruption, citing Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s policy stance.
Dr Timilsina further said the government aims to speed up development work and improve bureaucratic efficiency. “We believe in results, not just words,” he said.
He also noted that development is a gradual process, not something that happens overnight, and called for public patience and cooperation.
During the interaction, he said he was aware of local development needs in Nuwakot and pledged necessary support. He added that the government was working on a five-year completion framework for projects that previously took up to two decades.
