Nepal loses to USA by 44 runs in Women’s T20I Challenge Trophy

Kathmandu, April 18: Nepal suffered a 44-run defeat against the United States in the ICC Women’s T20I Challenge Trophy 2026 match held in Kigali, Rwanda.

Chasing a target of 127 runs, Nepal were bowled out for just 79 runs in 20 overs.

Only Bindu Rawal (27 off 45 balls) and Kabita Joshi (11 off 20 balls) managed to reach double figures as Nepal lost nine wickets in their innings.

For the USA, Pooja Ganesh top-scored with 47 runs, while Gargi Bhogle made 34 and Chetna Pagydayla added 30 runs, helping their team post 123/6 in 20 overs after being put into bat.

Nepali bowler Manisha Upadhyaya took two wickets, while Kabita Kunwar and Riya Sharma claimed one wicket each.

For the USA, Lekha Shetty and Taranum Chopra took two wickets each, while four other bowlers shared one wicket each.

The tournament, organised by the International Cricket Council, features hosts Rwanda along with Nepal, USA, Italy and Vanuatu. The competition began today and will run until May 1.

Nepal will play their next match against Italy on April 19.
