Nationwide Economic Survey to Begin April 15

Kathmandu, April 12: Preparations for a nationwide economic survey have been completed, with enumerators and supervisors deployed across the country, the National Statistics Office said.

The survey is scheduled to begin on April 15, with field data collection set to continue until June 21. Around 5,000 personnel have been mobilised for the enumeration.

Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle has urged industries, businesses and all concerned stakeholders to actively participate in the survey. He said the data collected will play an important role in national planning and policy formulation.

The survey will gather key information from 18 sectors of the economy, including the number and types of industries, enterprises, service providers and cooperatives. It will also collect data on employment, production and service delivery.

According to the Office, all types of business entities—large and small, registered and unregistered—will be included. Institutions such as non-governmental organisations, public corporations, and both private and public schools and hospitals will also be covered.

Survey offices have been set up in all 77 districts since the third week of March, with seven additional offices added later. These offices will remain operational until mid-July.

The Office has called for public cooperation to ensure accurate data collection. The previous survey, conducted seven years ago, recorded over 923,000 institutions and industrial establishments across the country.
