Suspension Bridge in Gulmi Completed Five Months Ahead of Schedule
Gulmi, March 31 — A suspension bridge connecting Chhaldibar and Palukha in Isma Rural Municipality-2 of Gulmi district has been completed five months ahead of its deadline, bringing relief and improved connectivity to residents.
Constructed by Aastha Samjhana JV Arghakhanchi, the 146-meter-long bridge was built at a cost of Rs 17.18 million. The project, initiated by the Road Infrastructure Development Office in Tamghas, was originally scheduled for completion by August 19, 2026.
Locals have welcomed the early completion, highlighting its significant impact on daily life. Residents say crossing the river, especially during the monsoon season, used to be risky and challenging, affecting children, students, elderly people, and patients.
Yam Bahadur Thapa, a resident, said the bridge has ended the hardships people faced while crossing the swollen river and has also reduced travel distance considerably.
Similarly, Ramlal Ghimire noted that the bridge has brought great relief to students and patients, expressing optimism that improved accessibility will also boost local business activities in the area.
The timely completion of the bridge is expected to enhance mobility and support socio-economic development in the region.
