Security Strengthened for HoR Polls in Sudurpaschim

Sudurpaschim, Jan 16: Security arrangements have been reinforced in Sudurpaschim ahead of the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) elections to ensure they are conducted freely, fairly, and safely.

Spokesperson of the Sudurpaschim Police Office, Gautam Mishra, said the security plan takes into account the region’s geographical remoteness, road networks, and the sensitivity of polling stations for the elections scheduled on March 5. The Nepali Army will secure the outer perimeter of polling centres, the Nepal Police will manage the inner perimeter, and the Armed Police Force will also be deployed.

Polling stations have been classified as normal, sensitive, or highly sensitive, with corresponding security measures in place. Bajura and Achham districts are considered particularly sensitive, while Bajura, Bajhang, and Darchula may face additional challenges if snowfall occurs. Of the province’s polling stations, 300 are normal, 395 sensitive, and 481 highly sensitive.

Meanwhile, offices of returning officers have been established in all 16 constituencies across the nine districts of the province, Chief of Province Election Office Prem Raj Bhatta confirmed.
