NFPJ honours Five Photojournalists at 28th AGM
Kathmandu, Dec 21: The National Forum of Photojournalists (NFPJ Nepal) honoured five professional photojournalists during its 28th annual general meeting held in Kathmandu on Sunday.
The Harigopal Pradhan Photojournalism Awards were presented in five different categories, with Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, Naradmuni Hartamchhali, handing over the honours.
Nabin Babu Gurung received the Courageous Photojournalism Award, while Uddhab Shrestha was honoured with the Eco-Tourism Photojournalism Award. Subas Mukhiya Sunuwar won the Entertainment Photojournalism Award, Chandrakala Chhetri was recognized for Cultural Photojournalism, and Shankar Bhujel received the Sports Photojournalism Award.
Addressing the event, Chancellor Hartamchhali described photography as one of the simplest, fastest and most powerful means of communication in society. He said photojournalism plays a vital role in documenting realities and shaping public understanding.
NFPJ Nepal Chairman Pradipraj Onta said the forum would work to make the organization more inclusive, strong and effective, with a special focus on capacity building.
On the same occasion, the Madhav Thapa Courageous Photojournalism Prize-2082, established by former Armed Police Force Nepal DIG Madhav Thapa, was awarded to NFPJ Secretary Prabin Kulung Rai. The Institutional NFPJ President Award-2082 was presented to NFPJ Vice Chairman Sunil Sharma.
