Kathmandu: Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav met with Qatar’s Ambassador to Nepal, Mishal Mohammed Ali Al Ansari, on Wednesday at the Vice President’s Office in Lainchaur.
The meeting covered bilateral relations, cooperation in multilateral and regional forums, labour, migration, and trade. Vice President Yadav noted that since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1977, Nepal–Qatar relations have grown on the basis of friendship, mutual respect, and trust.
He thanked Qatar for providing employment opportunities to around 365,000 Nepali workers and praised their contribution to both countries’ economies. He also expressed gratitude to the Amir of Qatar for granting Amiri Pardon to Nepali prisoners during Ramadan and Eid in 2025.
Highlighting Nepal’s goal to graduate from LDC status by 2026 and become a middle-income country by 2030, Yadav sought greater investment and cooperation from Qatar. He stressed the need to strengthen direct Kathmandu–Doha flights to boost tourism and trade.
On the occasion of Qatar’s National Day, the Vice President extended congratulations and best wishes to the Amir and the people of Qatar. Ambassador Al Ansari reiterated the strong and longstanding ties between the two countries and informed that Qatar recently released 30 Nepali nationals from its prisons at Nepal’s request.
