Vice President Yadav Says It’s Time to Address Gen Z’s Concerns

Kathmandu, Dec 10: Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav has said the dissatisfaction expressed during the Gen Z protests of September 8–9 shows that Nepal still has work to do to fully uphold human rights.

In his message on the occasion of Human Rights Day, Vice President Yadav urged all sides to unite in promoting equality, justice, and freedom of expression so citizens can live with dignity.

He said the Gen Z movement’s call for active participation, accountability and good governance underscores the need for greater opportunities and transparency. Nepal’s federal democratic republican system, he noted, is intended to advance social justice and protect human rights.

Despite constitutional guarantees, Yadav stressed that several communities still struggle for recognition and socio-economic progress. He emphasized that human rights violations cannot be tolerated in a democracy, and that discriminatory practices and injustices must be eliminated.

The Vice President also called for concrete measures to ensure access to education, healthcare and employment for persons with disabilities, Indigenous peoples, Madhesi and Dalit communities.
