President Paudel urges parties to participate in election

Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel has urged the political parties to participate in the upcoming election to the House of Representatives (HoR) to protect the nation, its citizens, democracy and the constitution.

During an all-party meeting held at his residence, Shital Niwas, on Friday, the Head of the State stressed on parties’ concentration on the March 5 election.

The all-party meeting held at the initiative of President Paudel was attended by Cabinet members, including the Prime Minister and the political party leaders.

Similarly, the President asked the government to implement necessary measures for peace and security and create an impartial and fear-free atmosphere for the elections, according to the President’s press advisor, Kiran Pokharel.

Importance of unity was underlined by the President while calling attention to the successful conduct of election for the protection of democracy.

All political parties were reminded to engage with the public with the intention of addressing the Gen-Z needs without any confusion.

The leaders of the political parties attending the discussion, however, sought guarantee of adequate peace and security measures for a free and fair election.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Sushila Karki remarked that the government recognizes that elections cannot take place without the involvement of political parties and assured that the government is dedicated to conducting elections in a fair and fear-free atmosphere.

She also pledged necessary steps for adequate peace and security to this end.
