On Air Station:

One more month to pay tax dues

Kathmandu: The government has extended the deadline to pay tax dues by a month.

Taxes for the month of Shrawan was supposed to be paid by 25 Bhadra and it has been extended by one month, said Madan Dahal, Director General of the Inland Revenue Department.

As per the prevailing law taxes including value added tax (VAT), excise duty and others must be paid to the relevant tax office by the 25th of every month in the Lunar Calendar.

Industrialists and businesspersons had requested Finance Minister Rameshwar Prasad Khanal for an extension, reasoning that they were not able to pay taxes on time due to the Gen-Z movement and the latest political developments.

During a meeting with the private sector earlier this afternoon, Finance Minister Khanal had assured that the deadline for paying taxes would be extended by one month.
