Kodari highway open for traffic

Kathmandu: The Kodari road section along Araniko highway, which was blocked by landslide, has come into operation, according to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructures and Transport.

The landslide had occurred near Kodari, Tatopani border point linking Nepal to China. Activities are underway to prevent landslide at the place as per a new design, shared Director General of the Department of Roads, Dr Bijay Jaisi. A human settlement was at the risk due to the landslide.

A technical team from Road Division Charikot had been deployed to remove the landslide debris. A team comprising experts has been conducting study for the long-term solution to landslide at the place, added the Department.

In the first phase, small and light vehicles had started operating their service while large vehicles came into operation from today afternoon, shared Chief of Federal Road Supervision and Monitoring Office, Kathmandu, Shubha Raj Neupane.
