Minister Yadav discusses with Indian experts on water crisis in Madhesh

Kathmandu, Aug 11: Minister for Drinking Water, Pradeep Yadav, and an expert team from the Indian government held a discussion on the drinking water crisis in Terai-Madhes.

Joint Secretary and Spokesperson at the Ministry, Meena Shrestha, informed that the expert team from India arrived in Nepal at the special invitation of Minister Yadav on Monday. They had an in-depth discussion on the drinking water crisis in Madhes Province and its long-term solutions.

According to her, the team will visit the crisis-hit districts of Terai-Madhes on Tuesday and engage with the necessary stakeholders to prepare an action plan to resolve the crisis. During the discussion, Minister Yadav said the drinking water crisis was the most acute in Birgunj Metropolitan City.

Bara and other districts are also facing water scarcity. The Indian team comprised Dehradun Regional Director Prashant Rae, Jagdamma Prasad, and advisor to the Lucknow Drinking Water Department and Sanitation, Ashish Pandey.
