Public Service Broadcasting Nepal’s on-site radio debate and discussion concluded at sunrise

Ilam: Public Service Broadcasting Nepal’s on-site radio debate and discussion program has been completed in Suryodaya Municipality of Ilam.

The program, conducted by Public Service Broadcasting Nepal, Radio Nepal’s Senior Program Officer Arjun Shrestha, was attended by Suryodaya Municipality Mayor Ran Bahadur Rai, Deputy Mayor Durga Kumar Baral, ward chairmen of various wards, industrialists, businessmen, teachers, women and youth, and 50 people.

At the program, Mayor Rai said that Suryodaya Municipality is working on sustainable plans in the fields of agriculture, tourism, education and health, and the results of some of the works have started to be seen, and some are in the process of being seen.

Mayor Rai said that there are many farmers in Suryodaya Municipality and that his budget and the budget of the provincial association have accelerated the distribution of agricultural road construction, fertiliser, seeds, machinery and tools to farmers under grants. He said the municipality is modernising agriculture and commercialising agriculture, and that Suryodaya Municipality is fully capable of becoming a tourist city and is known throughout the country as a municipality that has also done a lot in the development of tourism infrastructure.

Mayor Rai said that Suryodaya Municipality has also taken very important steps in education, including free higher education for daughters and community schools, and that Suryodaya Municipality is one of the best municipalities in the country.

Similarly, Deputy Mayor Durga Kumar Baral informed that Suryodaya Municipality has taken steps towards an organic farming system and that the municipality has launched a spray-ban campaign. He said it is necessary to carry out a pesticide reduction campaign, and the municipality is taking necessary steps to reduce the amount of pesticides used in crops as much as possible.

Participants from different sectors raised very important issues in the program. Participants were teachers Matrika Dahal, Industry and Commerce Association, Suryodaya Nagar President Pramod Rai, teacher Ganesh Prasad Acharya, journalist Kedar Sharma, local Sonam Yolmo, Dhrub Subba, Sadhana Phago, Kamal Gadal, Milan Kshetri, Kamala Khadka, Jay Rai, Nirmal Gurung, Tek Raj Giri and others.

They thanked Radio Nepal for bringing a very important program. The participants emphasised the need for uniform prices, saying that despite the agricultural roads being all-weather roads and blacktop roads in every ward, there is a lack of agricultural ambulances, and the need for an agricultural ambulance to transport agricultural materials in partnership with the municipality.

The participants emphasised that although a lot of work has been done in Suryodaya Municipality in agriculture, the lower class has not been able to fully benefit, and the participants emphasised that the cost-sharing amount to be borne by farmers should be reduced. They also believed that the municipality should test whether the organic fertilisers currently on the market are truly organic fertilisers that meet the standards. They expressed their opinion that the municipality was not getting the right price for marketing off-season tea. They thanked the municipality for the construction of cold stores for storing crops in the municipality, and for the construction of more agricultural education and tourism in Suryodaya Municipality compared to other municipalities.

The second part of the program was a discussion on tourism, saying that Suryodaya Municipality has paid good attention to the beautification and development of the main tourist areas of the city, and now it was suggested that the city should also engage in the work of promoting and organising home-stay hotels here. Recently, ambassadors of various countries have also visited Suryodaya Municipality under the leadership of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and this has also given good publicity to the tourism sector of the city, and now the municipality is developing our tourism sector, including the construction of physical infrastructure here, beautification, and identifying new areas. The participants emphasised that it is necessary to develop it by identifying new areas. The first glass bridge in Nepal in terms of technology is being constructed in Suryodaya Municipality, and the work of all-weather and blacktopping the roads leading to the tourist area is also ongoing.

The municipality is known as a leading municipality in the country by establishing itself as a leading municipality in the country by conducting special programs in the fields of education, agriculture, health and tourism, including the construction of a tea tasting center in Kanyam in partnership with Koshi Province for the promotion of tea, construction of all-weather blacktop roads in every ward, development of the tourism sector, preparation of a master plan for sustainable development, and the launch of tea crop insurance. The program prepared today will be broadcast on Radio Nepal’s central broadcast, informed the program facilitator Arjurn Shrestha.
