Adult elephant found dead

Jhapa, May 21: An adult elephant has been found dead at Panchpokhari community forest located at Buddhashanti rural municipality-5 in Jhapa district.

Locals informed forest officials that an elephant had been found dead in the jungle this morning, said the chief of the Division Forest Office, Jhapa, Bharat Babu Shrestha. The elephant was reportedly sick for a long time.

Rapid Response Team, an organisation of youths of Mechinagar, used to feed the elephant in the jungle after it fell sick. A technical team from Koshitappu Wildlife Reserve reached the incident site for the post-mortem.
